For several years, Associação Geração com Futuro, based in the former Curraleira neighbourhood, has shown a strong interest in working with local children and young people on issues of environmental sustainability. In 2025, their focus turned to reflecting on the impact of the fashion industry.
For this workshop, visual artist Pitanga was selected – known for her colourful style and environmental concerns. The artist developed activities centred on clothing upcycling, encouraging the reinvention of garments through painting and intervention techniques, while fostering critical reflection on one of the most polluting industries in the world.
